Aspire has had a big push this year on guest speakers from various fields coming in to speak to our students, giving them insights into various careers. Last week we had Miss Tilly Tracey, an A-Level law student from Blackpool Sixth Form join us to speak to every year group about Democracy and the Rule of Law. As ever, our students were polite and listened respectfully in spite of the complex nature of the talk. It was Miss Tracey’s first experience of public speaking and she delivered a very polished talk - a letter of thanks has already made its way to her so that she may use it in her university applications and any applications to join student parliaments or similar bodies.

This week Miss Plancke has arranged for two guest speakers to give virtual presentations to our students. The first is Mr Steven Markham, an automotive engineer, and the second is Michael Lewis, a nuclear engineer. They will be discussing their careers, apprenticeships in their fields and will also be taking questions in what will be another great opportunity for our students to hear about career options from those working directly in that field.

If you, or someone you know, would be willing to come and speak to our students about your career in any industry please do let us know by emailing careers@aspire.fcat.org.uk

Mrs Barnhurst and Ms Taylor have arranged for a Careers and Further Education market to take place for our Year 11s on the morning of 10th February. This will be made up of a range of further education providers, apprenticeships and public service representatives who will able to provide our students with more information and guidance on pathways available to them from September.

Aspire staff feel it is imperative that every opportunity is offered to allow our young people to consider all their options as they prepare to leave us in the near future.
