Congratulations to the following students who received a book of their choice for winning the Literary Canon competition last term:

  • Year 7 – Shelby for her amazing contributions to Literary Canon lessons
  • Year 8 – Bethany for her magnificent leaflet on Anne Frank's Life
  • Year 9 – Zuzzana and Elissa for their work on Malala
  • Year 10 – Alisia for her brilliant film poster for Frankenstein

Bethany's Anne Frank entry and Zuzanna's Malala entry

The challenge was to create a response to the texts they had been reading recently; this could be an entertaining review, but could also be anything that the students could think of, examples being:

A 3D map of Bill Bryson’s journey around Britain
A design/model of Anne Frank’s hiding place
A fact file of important events/information about Malala’s life
A new book cover/film poster/song for Frankenstein A collage of all the wider cultural knowledge learnt from non-fiction extracts

Of course, the only limitation was their imagination!

In addition, the following two forms received some goodies for being the most creative with their group projects making a 3D Frankenstein’s gravestone and Frankenstein’s monster biscuits:

  • Mr Barnhurst’s 10A
  • Ms Bamber's 10I
