Year 10 students Katelin and Taylor were recently awarded the Commandant's Coin of Excellence for their role in helping out a member of the public.

While out with their detatchment of Army Cadets selling poppies for Remembrance Sunday, Katelin and Taylor witnessed an older gentleman stumble and fall to the ground, injuring himself in the process. The gentleman was quickly helped into a comfortable position and the situation assessed. Although slightly shaken, it was fortunate that an ambulance was not needed and, despite a slightly bruised ego, he was helped on his way by the cadets.

The Commandant's Coin of Excellence is awarded for service above and beyond that expected of a cadet. Katelin, pictured above holding her award, said: "We didn't really think about it, we just saw this man have a really nasty fall, so helped him out like any good citizen would."
