Miss Riley is helping students in Year 7 and Year 9 take part in two art competitions this summer term - MedicSpot Face Mask Challenge and the Royal Mail Heroes Stamp Design Competition.

CBBC presenter Joe Tasker is challenging students in secondary schools to take part in the Medicspot Face Mask Challenge. Students can design their own face mask using whatever they would like to achieve this, it is up to them. They could include favourite animals, superheroes or even favourite food! You can find out more about the challenge here https://www.medicspot.co.uk/mask.

The person who impresses Joe the most will win 30 face masks for them and their classmates featuring their winning design£500 for their school to spend on new supplies and their face mask will be made available to purchase, with Medicspot donating 100% of the proceeds to NHS Charities Together. Joe will also selecting 20 more winners (4 winners from each 2-year age bracket from 5–14) who will win a face mask featuring their design and have it made available to purchase, with Medicspot donating 100% of the proceeds to NHS Charities Together.

 

A competition is being launched by the Royal Mail to design stamps to mark the role played by frontline workers and others during the coronavirus crisis.The winning designs will form a special set of eight stamps which will be released in Spring 2022. Students are asked to consider who their heroes are, and to design a stamp in their honour. Heroes could include NHS staff, refuse collectors, cleaners, teachers, supermarket workers, public transport staff, delivery drivers and postmen and women.

 

All templates will be uploaded on the Art Google classrooms if students wish to complete their designs at home. 

Miss Riley will also be available to support students for both competitions and provide any equipment needed during drop-in sessions in C15 (Year 7) and C14 (Year 9) on Tuesday afternoons, 2.30-3.30pm from Tuesday 20th April 2021, for those preferring to stay in school.

The deadline for all entries to be received is Friday, 21st May, 2021.
