In our ongoing interview series staff members at Aspire answer a few question so you can get to know who works here.

This week it's Head of Art, Mr Iddon answering the questions.

Why did you become a teacher?

I wanted to share my love of art and continue developing my own knowledge of artists work, I work in a secondary school because pupils of this age range produce very individual and create art but I love the way that the work looks. It often has a nieve, innocent, truthful quality to it.
You just can't beat childrens art for its spontaneity, confidence and energy.

Is there anything you wish you taught but can't?

I love adventurous outdoor education but I can't fit in a canoe anymore.

Marmite or Peanut Butter?

What has been the best day of your life (so far)?

Two days really, when my two lads were born

Which teacher did you fear the most when you were at school and why?

Mr. Crabtree, he was a science teacher and he made us all stand up on our first day at school until we had each answered a question correctly.

What was your favourite toy as a child?

My bike.

If you could be a fruit which one would you be and why?

It has to be a banana because they taste great but also they are yellow which is a really great primary colour, and yellow makes people feel happy.

What’s the best day of the week at Aspire?

Monday.

Coronation Street or Eastenders?

What is life like on the inside of a ping pong ball?

Very white, wobbly, loud if you are being played with.

Anything else you would like to add?

Do something today that your future self will thank you for.
