There is some major work currently being undertaken to the rear of Aspire Academy at grass-roots level, quite literally!

The astro-turf pitches, which were opened 30th August, 1999, were in need of some long-overdue attention and are now in the process of a full refurbishment programme taking several weeks. Two pitches are having their surfaces relayed, four pitches are being repaired, while the remaining pitches will be overhauled later in the year. The pitches next to the fields are having their damaged, overhead netting removed and two gates installed, allowing easy access to the fields should any stray footballs find their way in that direction. Finally, a fair amount of the rebound boards are also being replaced.

Mr Challenger, Site Supervisor, said: “I’m really pleased with the progress so far; the contractors, who are relaying the pitches, are working closely with site and teaching staff to ensure our students still have access to these fantastic outdoor facilities. These pitches will again be first class once all the work is completed.”
