Blackpool Aspire Academy has been awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark and Centre of Excellence by the Geographical Association (GA).
This is an extremely challenging award to achieve with its rigorous moderation process, but is seen as a key strategy for raising the quality of geography in schools and has been driving school improvement in geography since 2006. This year a total of 125 schools achieved the Geography Quality Mark including 26 PGQM Gold and SGQM Centre of Excellence levels, recognising our Geography department’s contribution to quality teaching.
Miss Stevenson, Head of Geography, said: “It’s such an honour to be awarded Centre of Excellence again and recognising all the hard work and effort put into geography learning at Aspire. But we couldn’t do it without the Aspire students - their pride in the subject is what shines through.”
