Following a gruelling week of varied GCSE and BTEC examinations paired with our ‘Boost’ sessions - acute revision classes aimed at giving the Year 11 students that final academic push through the exam period - the last thing that most teenagers would want to do at the weekend is even more school work, however for 32 of Blackpool Aspire Academy’s Year 11 this is exactly what they did recently on a trip to Borwick Hall.

Ryan Hughes, Assistant Principal at Blackpool Aspire Academy said “This last minute preparation for the final GCSE Maths paper will hopefully give our students that vital chance of securing their target grade and going onto further education”.

These dedicated students and teachers travelled to the historic Borwick Hall Outdoor Education Centre near Carnforth, an excellent venue set in 18 acres of grounds offering a wide range of adventurous activities, for a weekend of intense GCSE Mathematics Calculator Skills and some outdoor activities including raft building, canoeing, and tackling some extremely aggressive assault courses and climbing challenges, all of which our students took easily within their stride.

Throughout the weekend the students completed over seven hours of mathematics revision and practice in preparation for their final GCSE Maths exam, and also enjoyed some quality down time participating in activities that made the weekend really special.
