NEU Industrial Action 5 and 7 July

Dear Parent/Carer

The impact of the planned industrial action will mean Aspire Academy will;

  • be open for Years 7, 9 and 10 on 5 July.
  • be open for Years 8, 9 and 10 on 7 July.

Parents/carers of vulnerable pupils, such as those with education health care plans for example will be contacted directly to offer provision during the industrial action, where their year group is affected.

Pupils working at home on either day will be provided with suitable work to complete at home during the day. Unfortunately no live remote learning will be available due to the industrial action. Details of work being set will be shared as soon as possible. If your child is entitled to free school meals and is working remotely on 5 or 7 July a packed lunch will be available for collection the day before.

Whilst there are no further days of industrial action currently shared with us by the NEU, I feel it is worth informing you that all four major trade unions representing teachers are conducting ballots for industrial action starting in the Autumn. Updates will be available at the start of the Autumn term.

I apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding whilst NEU members remain in dispute with the Secretary of State for Education.

Yours faithfully

Dean Logan
