Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope that you and your family are well. This information will provide details regarding the Year 11 leaving date.

Unfortunately, Year 11 have been affected by COVID-19. Students are therefore strongly encouraged to access the high-quality remote learning in preparation for any assessments when they return from self-isolation. It is vital that students return to school on Friday 21st May to ensure that we continue to gather evidence for their GCSE grades.

As you are aware, Year 11 students will not sit exams this summer. They have been working extremely hard, as well as their teachers, to provide a portfolio of evidence for their grades to be assigned by the school. The deadline for schools to submit grades is in June and we have therefore decided that the Year 11 will finish school on Friday May 28th.

It is however likely that we will require some students to come into school between Monday June 7th and Friday June 18th. Please make sure that your child is available to come into school between these dates at short notice.

We want to ensure that our students are prepared for life after school whether they are going to college or into employment. The academy is offering a range of services to help students with this transition. On our website, we will have links to further education colleges. There will be a wide range of information and support about college life and the courses that your child may have selected.

There is going to be a specific email address, careers@aspire.org.uk for students to contact the school if they have any questions about life after leaving our academy. This will be available after the half term holidays.

We will also run a drop-in session for students to meet with our careers mentor if they require help with applications or advice on their future. He will be available on Friday 11th and Friday 18th June. There will be a link on our school website, as well as on a text message, to a Google form where you can book an appointment for your child. If they do make an appointment, they should arrive in school at the main reception.

I will send out a separate letter with details of the school prom which will take place on Thursday 1st July. There will also be information about results day which is Thursday 12th August.

If you have any questions about the Year 11 leaving date, please email me at w.buchanan@aspire.fcat.org.uk

Thank you for your support during this last academic year.

Yours sincerely,
William Buchanan
