As part of Green Careers week and in line with the academy's new sustainability targets, students in Year 9 have been taking part in a few events this week.

Our students have been taking part in the CGI DWP finals where they had the opportunity to meet policy advisors from the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and UK Space Agency, as well as renewable energy specialists from Vinci and discuss energy sustainability and job opportunities in the local area over the next few years.

Thirty of our Year 9 students took part in a sustainable textiles workshop, lead by the University of Lancashire, learning about the issues around fast fashion and the manufacturing of certain fabric used in the industry over the past few years.

Students have also taken part in the Great British Sewing Bee Challenge learning to mend their jeans and being creative with their clothes before discussing career options in sustainable fashion.
