The mountain of donations in Room C1 has finally reached its peak. After a final flurry of activity last Thursday, Aspire Academy officially concluded its "Stone Cold" appeal, marking a successful transition from classroom literature to community action.

What started as a Year 8 study of Robert Swindells' novel - a story highlighting the harsh realities of homelessness - evolved into a powerful school-wide campaign to tackle local food insecurity.

A Community Effort

The final tally saw a massive influx of essentials, including:

  • Non-perishable staples: pasta, rice, and tinned goods.
  • Essential care: comprehensive hygiene kits.
  • Daily contributions: consistent donations from both the student body and staff.

Mrs Gregory, who watched the project grow from a simple reflection into a logistical success, praised the students' dedication. "Seeing them take ownership of this project was incredible," she said. "They didn't just read a story; they chose to change the narrative for people in our own town."

The Final Destination

All gathered items were collected on Friday by Helping Hearts - Fylde, ensuring that the students' hard work translated into direct support for the local community.

The success of this appeal serves as a testament to what happens when empathy meets action, proving that the lessons learned in Room C1 will resonate far beyond the final page of a book.
