This week the Art Department have been virtually welcomed by Blackpool Sixth Form into their creative art space within the college known as The Frame. Year 11, 10 and Year 8 and 9 Arts Award students were treated to a virtual tour of their studio space and workshop areas. We were shown the vast amount of resources available to students undertaking A Levels and BTECs in Art, Craft and Design, Graphical Communication, Textiles, Fashion, 3 Dimensional Studies and Photography. Lindsay a tutor at the college told our students about the courses and life at the sixth form including pathways into higher education within the arts and the careers their students have gone on to have. We also had the pleasure of seeing students at work and an insight into their creative studies.
A highlight was seeing the work of Hannah Sykes, ex-student and daughter of Julie Sykes, following a workshop she recently delivered as a visiting artist.
Aspire art teacher Mrs Riley said: "It really was inspiring seeing some of the creative talent on show and we are looking forward to welcoming Lindsay and some of the sixth form students into our Year 11 lesson on Thursday, 17th March, for a final burst of inspiration before the GCSE portfolio deadline."
