Yesterday we held our first Careers and FE (Further Education) Marketplace in the Main Hall giving our Year 11 students the chance to talk to a range of further education providers, apprenticeships and public service representatives who were able to provide the students with information and guidance on pathways available to them from September.
To start the students completed an entrance survey to determine their understanding of what further education pathways were open to them, to establish how many had already made applications and to assess their confidence in writing CVs and Personal Statements.
They then went to the main hall to talk to our guests and discuss their possible futures. They also had a booklet of careers-based activities in order to get them thinking about their choices, focussing on CV and Personal Statement writing.
Finally, our students completed an exit survey asking them the same questions again to see the impact of the marketplace and the booklets they had been working on and to also review the marketplace.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to really think about their pathways for this September and will hopefully encourage them to focus on what they need to achieve in these final few terms at Aspire.
