Hospitality and Catering

What qualification will I get?

(Eduqas - WJEC) Level 2 Award – Hospitality and Catering

How will I be assessed?

The WJEC Level 1/2 Award in Hospitality and Catering is made up of two mandatory units:

Unit 1: The Hospitality and Catering Industry (Externally assessed)

Unit 2: Hospitality and Catering in Action (Internally assessed)

What can this course lead to?

Employment in hospitality and catering can range from waiting staff, receptionists and catering assistants to chefs, hotel and bar managers and food technologists in food manufacturing. All of these roles require further education and training either through apprenticeships or further and higher education.

Further qualifications:

  • WJEC Level 3 Food, Science and Nutrition (certificate and diploma)
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Advanced Professional Cookery
  • Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Food Preparation and Cookery Supervision

60% Controlled assessment and 40% external written examination.

What can this course lead to?

College to study design related courses like Product design, Graphics Products, 3D design, Furniture design and many other design courses. It can also be advantageous if you decide to take the apprenticeship route as it will help you develop your knowledge surrounding design/manufacturing processes as well as your practical skills.
